Definition
Insulation Resistance Measuring Instrument (English: Insulation Resistance Tester) is an instrument used to measure the insulation properties of other instruments in the form of resistance. Since most insulators in daily life are not perfectly insulating, the instrument applies high-voltage DC to the insulator, measures the current and calculates the resistance. The operating voltage is generally 250~1000V, and qualified insulators typically have resistance above 2 Mega Ohm.
